I am looking at archiving the Quicken Essentials data in an Excel file and starting new the first of the year with a application like CheckBook Pro. I see no value in a subscription based service, so I refuse to by a Quick en 2018 subscription. In the mean time, I am using remote desktop to access the files on the computer running the recovered Quicken Essentials app.
I plan to try again, but just have not had the time to noodle through the process. I was able to recover Quicken Essentials on another Mac, but the Export from Essentials on the recovered files and the import to Quicken 2007 on my Macbook did not pick up all my transactions.
